Chugach Announces Board Election for 2008The results of the 35th Chugach Alaska Corporation Annual Shareholders’ Meeting held on October 18, 2008 in Tulalip, Washington include the re-election of incumbent directors Violet Yeaton (left), Matt McDaniel (right), and James Kvasnikoff (center). Following the meeting, a motion to re-elect the current board officers was unanimously approved. Sheri Buretta will continue as Chairman of the Board; Matt McDaniel as Vice Chairman; Donna Platt as Treasurer; and David Totemoff Sr., as Secretary. Exxon Settlement InformationOn Wednesday, June 25, 2008, the United States Supreme Court issued its opinion in the Exxon Valdez punitive damages case. In summary, it upheld the lower courts’ determination that punitive damages are appropriate, but also determined that the amount of punitive damages appropriate to the case should not exceed (and, in this case, should be equal to) the amount of compensatory damages awarded (roughly $507M).
