On February 8, 2010, Chugach Alaska Corporation presented Fran Ulmer, Chancellor of the University of Alaska Anchorage with a gift of $200,000 to support the development and delivery of programs and courses that enhance the education to university students about the history of Alaska Native people including the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act and creation of contemporary Alaska Native Corporations and organizations. We want Alaska Native students and all students at UAA to be successful, to understand and be proud of Alaska Native heritage. In recent years UAA has created other successful Alaska Native programs including ANSEP, RAN Nursing, and Native Psychology. By support and partnership with the University we believe the same success can be achieved and encourage others support.
This has been discussed for development of this partnership for many years within the Native Community.
