The
Chugach region encompasses 10 million acres extending from the southern
tip of the Kenai Peninsula easterly to the 141st meridian near Icy
Bay. Within the 10 million acre region are nearly 5000 miles of
shoreline along the coastal waters of Prince William Sound and the
Gulf of Alaska. The federal government holds title to 7.4 million
acres within the region that is managed by the U.S. Forest Service,
the National Park Service and the Bureau of Land Management. The
State of Alaska holds title to an additional 1.5 million acres,
much of which is managed as marine parks and wildlife refuges.
Chugach
Alaska Corporation has full fee entitlement of 378,000 acres and
a subsurface entitlement of 550,000 acres, primarily within the
boundaries of the Chugach National Forest. Most of Chugach's lands
lie along the coast of the Prince William Sound, Gulf of Alaska
or along major waterways within the region. Chugach has substantial
land holdings near Seward and Nellie Juan Lake; on Montague, Knight
and Latouche Islands; along the Copper and Bremner Rivers and at
Cape Yakataga and Icy Bay.
Chugach's
lands are open to entry by permit only. Use of Chugach
lands without a permit is considered trespass. Trespassers will
be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Some activities
are not allowed or may be restricted on certain tracts of land.
A permit fee is required for public and commercial activities. Permit
fees are normally waived for research activities that provide benefit
to Chugach Alaska Corporation.
Our fees for non-commercial access (camping, hiking, fishing, hunting,
etc...) is $25 per person per day. Some tracts
of land may not available for permit use.

Office with your personal information, land tract and area,
and the dates you want to go. Allow a minimum of 14 days for a response.
