 US Department of Labor – Job Corps Operations

Chugach provides operations, training, management, and maintenance services at the Alaska Job Corps Center in Palmer, Alaska for the U.S. Department of Labor Job Corps Program. The center is the first of its kind in Alaska, focusing on training Alaska youth and provides full educational services for 250 Alaskans, including 24 single parents, in a residential setting. The center serves the largest geographic area with the most diverse population of any Job Corps center in the nation.

The Alaska Job Corps Center is also the second highest ranked center in the region and the region's second highest ranked career transitions services operator. In 2008, a Chugach subsidiary received an award for being the highest rated contractor in the region.  The San Francisco region is comprised of 22 centers located in the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington. There are 122 Job Corps centers nationwide. 

In 2008, at the San Francisco Regional Leadership Conference for Job Corps, the Alaska Job Corps Center also received five awards for the 2007 program year. Job Corps Centers are graded monthly in 11 different areas and ranked accordingly.  The Alaska Job Corps Center received awards for being the #1 center in the country for:

-graduate average wage
-month weekly earnings
-90 day commitment
